The 3 Lip Gloss Ingredients You Need

Lip Gloss Ingredients

When you really think about it, our lips are one of the hardest working parts of our body - every day they help us talk, kiss, eat, drink and smile to name a few! They are also exposed to literally every aspect of our lives and everything thing that goes on around us! The wind, the sun, the freezing cold,  the air-pollution, and that coffee that was a bit too hot - ouch! Giving back to your lips is essential, and here are 3 reasons why the Evio Hydrating Lip Gloss can help you do just that!

First up: Shea Butter

Shea Butter, also known as Butyrospermum Parkii, is a super nourishing ingredient that comes from the seeds of the fruit of the Shea (Karite) tree and is naturally rich in vitamins A, E and F.  Hydrating qualities help to repair and soothe dry cracked skin. It's packed full of essential fatty acids and the nutrients that help to stimulate collagen production, perfect for some natural plumpness to your lips. Although it is not medically recognized as a sunscreen or sunblock, Shea Butter can be used topically to protect from sunburn, as well as soothe and repair sunburnt skin!
This Shea Butter party has it all! Ain't no party, like a parkii, party!!

FUN FACT:  In some regions of Africa, Shea Butter is known as 'Women's Gold'.  Thousands of women in these regions are able to harvest, process and create various types of Shea Butter derived products to sell at their local markets.  Having a source of income has opened many doors to necessary healthcare and education for these hard working women and their families. Yay to Shea!

Castor Oil

Not sure we give castor oil the nod it deserves, when actually this is a very multi-faceted, diverse and beneficial ingredient!  We are super proud to include this in our Evio Hydrating Lip gloss, and here's why... Castor oil is rich in several fatty acids, including ricinoleic acid, oleic acid and linoleic acid that contain antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. These antimicrobial properties inhibit the growth of acne causing bacteria. As an anti-inflammatory ingredient, castor oil is great for soothing and keeping our lips soft and supple!

FUN FACT:  Some Herbal Therapists or Naturopaths, recommend Castor Oil to be used in homemade 'packs' to manage or treat ailments such as breast pain, digestive issues, menstrual cramping and may even aid in the shrinking small fibroids. Cocoa Seed Butter

#tosootheandprotect especially during the winter season! Found inside the cocoa bean, this awesome seed packs a punch! With its anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-aging and antioxidant properties, what more could you ask for really? Not only that! It's also high in saturated fatty acids making it an excellent nourishing moisturizer. Cocoa Seed Butter is THE go to ingredient to help protect, as well as heal and soothe already dry, cracked or chapped lips. Yep - the perfect combo to keep your lips kissable all year 'round.

FUN FACT:  Better put your money where your cocoa bean is! It is said that it was such a hot commodity during the period of around 600AD, the Mayans restricted the consumption of the cocoa bean to the elite only. By the 14th century, it was still only available for the upper class, and the Aztecs actually used the coveted cocoa beans as currency! That’ll be 5 cocoa beans please…cha-ching!
