Two Canadian marijuana producers are getting hitched in the biggest weed deal ever. Aurora Cannabis is buying its competitor, MedReleaf, for $2.9 billion in stocks. Aurora just bought Saskatoon-based CanniMed earlier this year. The latest merger gives Aurora the ability to grow 1.26 million pounds of weed a year, split between nine facilities in Canada and two in Denmark. It gives the home-grown company an even bigger share of the green (money, that is) by allowing the company to get a jump on sales and distribution overseas. Aurora has big ambitions to become the “world’s largest cannabis company.” ICYMI, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wants to light up the summer by making marijuana legal in Canada by July.
