Do you wake up in the morning looking like your most glowing, flawless self… or do you look more like you only slept for an hour and aren’t sure what day of the week it is?!

Sleep is so important, not only for your skin and beauty but for your overall health as well. In this blog post, I’m going to give my favourite things to do at night to ensure you wake up with your best skin ever and your inner Beyonce shining!

Obvi this is going to be in the #1 spot. You can’t sleep in your make up and expect to wake up with glowing skin in the morning. While we’re sleeping is when our skin heals and breathes, and if there are something on the surface (like makeup) that's just not going to happen. I’ve been guilty of this in the past, especially if I’ve had one too many glasses of wine… no judgements, we’ve all been there. Try keeping a package of facial wipes by your bed in case this happens or when you’re just too tired to take off your make up!

If you’ve never heard of “Sleep Creases” before, you will as you become older, especially if you’re a side or stomach sleeper. Sleep creases happen when you sleep on your face for a long period of time and wake up in the morning with “creases” or lines on your face from the pillow. When we’re young, our skin would bounce back within 10-15 minutes of being awake, but after years of sleeping a certain way and a decline of collagen as we age… it doesn’t bounce back so easily and those lines begin to become permanent. This is where silk pillowcases come in. They are SUPER soft, which allows your face to sort of slide off rather than cause creasing as a traditional pillowcase does. Switching to a silk pillowcase will definitely result in some glowy, plump skin in the morning! Plus, they are great for your hair as well. Win-Win!

If silk pillowcases are out of your budget, try getting a silk eye mask instead. They are usually half the price of the pillowcases but still work great for protecting the eye area from lines and creases during sleeping. Plus, they keep the light/sun out which can help you sleep better!

This might seem like a no brainer but getting 8 hours of good quality sleep is super important for SO many reason and your skin is one of them. Not only does your skin heal at night but so does the rest of your body and when you’re sleeping properly your body is less stressed.

Less stress = more collagen!

More collagen = glowy plump skin!

This has been a part of my night time routine for about a year now and it’s something I look forward to every night. I love the ritual of Gua Sha, and find it extremely relaxing to do before bed. It de-stresses my body which relaxes any facial tension I might have been having during the day, which means I wake up glowing and relaxed!

Your nighttime skincare routine is going to be so much more in-depth than your morning routine because it allows your skin the time to absorb everything properly overnight. There are also certain skin care ingredients that shouldn’t be used during the day because of sun exposure, like retinol or acids. That being said, they are some of my favourite night time ingredients because they work by increasing cellular turnover + resurfacing the skin, which leaves you super glowy in the morning. I also love face oils (with my gua sha routine) and using them at night gives them enough time to penetrate into the skin without leaving you feeling greasy.

No matter what kind of pillowcase you end up using, if you’re someone who deals with acne + breakouts, washing your pillowcase regularly is super important to make sure you aren't spreading bacteria. I always have 3-4 pillowcases so I can rotate them regularly. I’ll sleep on one side of it one night and then flip it and use the other side the next night, then change the pillowcase!

There you have it babes! My favourite things to do at night to ensure I wake up with the most glowing skin ever, try them out for yourself so you can… ✨ glow with the flow ✨
