WHAT IS YOUR MORNING ROUTINE?
I am a morning person. I simply LOVE waking up early! My morning starts in the kitchen – I need to eat before I can do anything! I love preparing fresh fruits and enjoying a breakfast composed of a smoothie, oats, toasts or cereals. It’s super important to me to take time to eat properly in the morning, as it sets the tone for the entire day. I check my social media accounts and my emails while eating. At around 7 am I head over to F45 for a good sweat, and by 8:30-8:45 am I’m showered, I put hydrating lotion on my body, I do a quick makeup and I’m ready to go on with my day!
Oh, and I do drink coffee when I finally sit down to do some work around 9 am.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR CAREER PATH
I didn’t know what I wanted to become until just recently. I started my career in sales after finishing a masters degree in marketing. I worked for big corporations like Coca-Cola, Ferrero, and L’Oréal in various sales roles – climbing the corporate ladder – but was never truly satisfied with the work I was doing.
Last July while I was travelling for work on a Sunday, I was on a plane reading a book when it hit me. I was not living my best life. I had this “ah ha” moment. I realized I was addicted to the salary and title I had, but hated my work week and was living only for the weekends. I knew there was no turning back, I had to make a plan.
Three months later I quit my job and started Happy on Mondays with the mission to help people like me get their inner fire back and inspire them to become the best version of themselves.
To kickstart my movement I’ll be hosting monthly meetups that feature inspiring speakers; each will talk about how they manage to forge their own path. My first event [took] place on Monday, March 26th at 8:00 am.
I finally realized that what I truly love is PEOPLE. I want to help them become the best version of themselves and become Happy on Mondays.
WHAT CHALLENGES DO YOU OR WOMEN FACE IN YOUR INDUSTRY?
I believe we are faced with a lot of pressure to be successful in many aspects of our lives. Women are expected to do well in their careers, eat healthy salads every day, workout regularly, be great moms, AND have an active social life. It’s a lot to deal with!
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUNG GIRLS WHO WANT TO BE THE NEXT YOU?
- Enjoy the Journey: earlier in my career I was only looking ahead, trying to hit the next step and not really being in the NOW. I feel like there is a lot of value in being able to enjoy the everyday struggles and learning as you go.
- It’s fine to change your mind: I would tell them that it’s totally fine to let go of the path you had previously chosen to try something new. The beauty of evolving is to be able to reinvent yourself and to grow to become the best version of yourself.
- You do you: don’t try to be anyone other than yourself. It’s hard with all the influencers getting in our heads and trying to tell us what we should be becoming, but stay true to yourself. That is how you will truly shine.
HOW DO YOU SEPARATE WORK LIFE FROM YOUR PERSONAL LIFE?
I actually don’t! I have been through this soul-searching journey recently and realized that the work I was doing had to be meaningful to me and be something I would be passionate about. My project is so close to my heart that I am still in the phase that I enjoy talking to my friends about it and getting feedback. Therefore, when I have a night out with friends, I always update them on what’s going on with Happy on Mondays and share the great meetings I had.
Also, my husband and I are very involved in our professional lives as we love coaching each other and helping each other grow. That’s why we always chat about our day at dinner and ask questions to dig deeper and find ways to solve problems. I’m really grateful to share my life with such a smart husband that has a great baggage and helps me push my reflections further.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
I am inspired by strong headed people that love what they do and are great at it. I love seeing someone passionate that never gives up on their dream. That’s also why I started this movement to inspire people by showcasing amazing human beings that forged their own path.
Travel also inspires me, as I am able to reinvent myself every time I step away from home. Funny story: I always cry when I come back from vacation (literally). It’s like I never want to come back! The high of being away is always so intense and I guess the fact of coming back home is never as interesting as staying in paradise. I am a true dreamer and I sometimes picture myself living on a beach selling pineapples in my bikini.
Finally, some brands inspire me. I am very sensitive to great customer experience and I enjoy the work of brands that are able to bring my mind to dream. Some of my favorites are: Lululemon (I feel very inspired to workout), Glossier (I feel inspired to love my self and take care of my body), Greenhouse Juices (I feel inspired to filter what I eat and fuel my body with greens), and Tiffany & Co. (the princess in me feels inspired to choose quality over quantity and stay classic with my style).
WHEN YOU’RE OFF THE CLOCK, WHAT ARE YOUR INDULGENCES?
I’m a true French girl that enjoys her wine. When a long day of work is done, I love meeting some friends at a nice restaurant for happy hour. I’m known for hosting a great happy hour (…that lasts until 11 pm). My second has to be chocolate. I could eat chocolate every day but try to limit myself. This is going to sound weird, but, I love the feeling I get when I eat so many that I hit my limit and almost feel sick.
I know, very weird!
